What is Ash Wednesday?

Ash Wednesday is a moment we inaugurate the season of Lent as a church, it is the start of something new, the acknowledgment that something big is coming.

Ash Wednesday is a reminder for us that there is something wrong with this world, and there is something wrong with our hearts. We have chosen to love the wrong things. We have chosen to pursue the wrong things… So, we repent in ash.

Yet, at the same time, while we were still sinners Christ died for us. God so loved us in our brokenness that he sent his son to rescue us from it. Ash Wednesday is a reminder that Gods story and your story are far from over, that Jesus is with us now in our ashes, making all things new… So, the ash takes the form of a cross.

So, Ash Wednesday is a call to REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL.

The Ash Wednesday Prayer Experience

Join us on Wednesday February 22nd for a self guided Ash Wednesday experience as we repent and believe the gospel together. The Ash Wednesday Prayer Experience will be open from 6:30 - 8:30 am, from 11:30 -1:30 pm, and from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. Come during any of these times; it will take you about 30 minutes to walk through the entire experience. You will be given simple instructions and the freedom to participate at your own pace.
